Language Assessment. Write an essay in which you will design a comprehensive language assessment for a hypothetical child with a speech and/or language disorder. Assume that your child is an 8-yearold from a diagnostic group (from Chapter 2 in Language Disorders: A Functional Approach to Assessment and Intervention) of your choice. List at least two informal and two formal assessments that you would perform. Include a justification for each based on the characteristics of the disorder and/or the principles of the functional approach. Discuss the variables that you would consider in designing the session, as well as considerations for collecting a language sample. Address how these might differ when assessing a child from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) background. What modified procedures may be used when there is a lack of appropriate assessment tools for children with limited English proficiency (LEP) or dialectal differences, who might be underrepresented in the norming population?
